Woods, Mickelson square off at Players Championship
By Chico Rodriguez • May 6th, 2010 • Category: GOLFWhat has become known as the fifth major is underway as the Players Championship kicked off Thursday at TPC Sawgrass in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida.
PGA Golf Odds are available for the tournament at JustBet, which has moneyline, point spread and over/under totals betting for all major sports as well as entertainment prop bets.
Tiger Woods has maintained his World No. 1 ranking despite six months of controversy and a self-imposed hiatus from the tour, up until the Masters Tournament, where he finished fourth.
Woods second tournament of the season was last week at Quail Hollow, where he had one of the worst performances of his career. Woods missed the cut at Quail Hollow, just the sixth time in his career he hasn’t made it through to the weekend.
World No. 2 Phil Mickelson, Woods’ nemesis throughout his career, is considered a favorite at the Players Championship and a win could vault him past Woods and into the No. 1 world ranking, which would mark the first time a golfer other than Woods has been on top in years.
Also consider favorites this weekend are Jim Furyk, Quail Hollow winner Rory Mcilroy, and Lee Westwood.
Henrik Stenson won last year’s Player’s Championship, his second on the PGA Tour.
