As the baseball betting postseason continues, the St. Louis Cardinals will play host to the Los Angeles Dodgers in a heated MLB betting affair.

The Dodgers took a 2-0 series lead thanks to a bunch of dramatics in the 9th inning of Game 2. All season, manager Joe Torre’s boys did a great job of coming up in the clutch and finding ways to pick up victories, and Thursday was no exception. The newly acquired RHP Vicente Padilla will be tabbed with the job of closing out the Cardinals tonight. He went 4-0 with a 3.20 ERA in seven starts with Los Angeles this year. Dodgers betting fans went 6-1 in those outings. In his last start of the regular season, Padilla pitched LA to the pennant by beating Colorado 5-3. In that game, he went five frames, allowing just one run on four hits with ten strikeouts. Keep a close eye on both SS Rafael Furcal and RF Andre Ethier. Furcal is batting .571 in this series, while Ethier is batting .429 with a home run against the Cards.

Meanwhile, St. Louis has to have a lot of questions to answer in the dugout. LF Matt Holliday was probably the biggest reason why the Cardinals won the NL Central so easily this season, but it was his error that led to the LA victory. However, closer Ryan Franklin should’ve still been able to shut the door with a man on second and two down in the ninth. Tonight, manager Tony LaRussa will hand the ball to RHP Joel Pineiro. Pineiro had arguably the best season of his career, going 15-12 with a 3.49 ERA. He posted career highs in both innings pitched (214.0) and WHIP (1.14). 1B Albert Pujols needs to get it going in this series, as he is just 1/6 without an RBI.

Though the Dodgers are sizeable favorites from here to roll into the NLCS, they haven’t had any luck in St. Louis of late, going just 6-20 at Busch Stadium in their L/26 tries. However, the Cardinals haven’t scored more than three runs in a game against LA in their L/5 baseball betting affairs. If there is a Game 4 of this series, it’ll be played on Sunday night.
