NL West rivals square off in San Diego

NL West rivals Los Angeles Dodgers and San Diego Padres open a three-game set Tuesday at Petco Park.

The Padres are a very slight, -106 moneyline favorite and the over/under total is 6.5 in MLB Betting.

Los Angeles will send righthander Chad Billingsley to the mound. Billingsley is 8-5 with a  4.22 ERA this season.  San Diego will counter with righthander Jon Garland, who is 9-6 with a  3.61 ERA.

The Dodgers are coming off a 3-1 series win against the New York Mets. The Dodgers capped the set with a 1-0 win Sunday as a -180 moneyline favorite.

The Padres swept the Pittsburgh Pirates in their three-game series over the weekend, including a 6-3 win in the final on Sunday, as a -120 moneyline favorite.

Los Angeles is 53-46 SU and the San Diego is 58-39 SU this season.

The total has gone under in four of the Dodgers’s last five games, in seven of the past eight meetings overall against San Diego, and in all five of the past five meetings in San Diego.

The Dodgers are 4-1 SU in their last five games overall and against San Diego, but 1-4 SU in their last five games on the road.

San Diego is 4-1 SU in its last five games overall, and a perfect 5-0 SU in their past five games at home. The total has gone over in four of San Diego’s last five games and in nine of San Diego’s last 12 games at home.
