NBA Playoffs: Suns @ Lakers

By Hank Harris • May 27th, 2010 • Category: NBA

The Los Angeles Lakers host the Phoenix Suns for pivotal Game 5 of the Western Conference Final on Thursday night (9 pm, TNT).

The Lakers are a 7.5-point favorite and the over/under total is 218 in NBA Odds at JustBet.

The best-of-seven series is tied 2-2.

Phoenix was able to complete a sweep of its two home games – just as the Lakers had one in Games 1 and 2 of the series – as it won Game 4 by a 115-106 score Tuesday. The Suns upset the Lakers as a 2-point home underdog and the score went over the over/under total of 220.

Phoenix got a big performance from its bench, which outscored the Lakers’ bench 54-20. The Suns’ Channing Frye and Leandro Barbosa paced the bench output with 14 points each while Amare Stoudemire scored a team-high 21 points. Steve Nash continued to be a playoff warrior for Phoenix, scoring 15 points and eight assists.

Kobe Bryant led the Lakers with a game-high 38 points and 10 assists while Pau Gasol scored 15 points.

Phoenix is winless (0-5 SU and ATS) in the past five meetings in Los Angeles, and 4-9 SU in the past 13 meetings overall. The Suns are 17-7 SU and 16-8 ATS in their past 24 games on the road, while the Lakers are 5-0 SU and 4-1 ATS in their last five games at home.

Game 6 will be in Phoenix on Saturday. The Western Conference champion meets either the Boston Celtics or the Orlando Magic in the NBA Finals.
