Orlando needs more magic to stay alive
By Chico Rodriguez • May 26th, 2010 • Category: NBAThe Orlando Magic lived to fight another day and now they’ll have to take advantage of it.
The Magic head home for Game 5 of the Eastern Conference finals Wednesday when they will again be fighting to keep their postseason alive against the Boston Celtics (8 pm ET, TNT).
The Magic are a 4-point favorite and the over/under total is 186 in NBA Betting at JustBet.
The Celtics lead the best-of-seven series 3-1.
Orlando is attempting to become the first team in NBA history to come all the way back from a 3-0 series deficit to win the series.
The Magic, facing a sweep and elimination in Game 4 on Sunday at TD Banknorth Garden in Boston, played a hard, determined game and were rewarded when Jameer Nelson scored six points in overtime and Dwight Howard added the final four to secure a 96-92 win.
Orlando – players, coaches and fans – have been absolutely stunned by the turn of events in the East final, as the team entered the series having won 14 straight games dating back to the regular season.
Nelson chipped in 23 points and nine assists and hit a pair of three-pointers to open the overtime scoring. Orlando led from there, as Boston shot just 2- of-10 from the field in the extra frame.
Ray Allen scored all six of Boston’s extra-time points and finished with 22 total. Paul Pierce ended up with 32 points and 11 rebounds for the Celtics, who had their six-game winning streak snapped.
