Seton Hall looks for upset over No. 8 West Virginia

The No. 8 West Virginia Mountaineers host the surging Seton Hall Pirates in a Big East battle on Saturday (12 pm ET, ESPN).

The Mountaineers have gone 7-3 straight up and against the point spread over the past 10 clashes between the teams. West Virginia has dominated the past five meetings, going 5-0 SU and 4-1 ATS.

The teams have met once previously this season, on Dec. 26. The Mountaineers managed a 90-84 win on Dec. 26, covering the point spread as a 4-point road favorite. The score easily eclipsed the over/under total of 149.5.

The Pirates’ last action came on Wednesday when they beat St. John’s 59-50, cashing as a 1-point road underdog. The score in that tilt went under the 144.5-point total.

Also Wednesday, West Virginia beat Providence 88-74. The Mountaineers covered as 7.5-point road favorites. The score went over the total of 156.

This season, Seton Hall (15-9 SU, 6-12 ATS) is 6-7 SU in the Big East, while West Virginia (20-5 SU, 10-14 ATS) is 9-4 SU, good for third place. The Mountaineers are 2.5 games back of the conference-leading No. 5 Syracuse Orange.

Seton Hall is led by guard Jeremy Hazell (21.9 points per game) while West Virginia is led by forward Da’Sean Butler (17.7 PPG).
