Cincinnati Bearcats take on No. 6 West Virginia Mountaineers

The Cincinnati Bearcats will have their hands full when they clash with the No. 6 West Virginia Mountaineers in a Big East Tournament quarterfinal matchup at Madison Square Garden on Thursday night (9:30 pm ET, ESPN).

West Virginia is favored by 9 points and the over/under total is 128 in College Basketball Odds at JustBet.

But it’s actually Cincinnati that has had the edge in recent meetings, going 4-3 straight up and 4-2-1 against the point spread in the past seven meetings. In the past five, the Bearcats are 4-1 against the spread.

The Bearcats and Mountaineers met once during the regular season, on Feb. 27. The Mountaineers won 74-68 but did not cover as a 12.5-point home favorite, and the score went over the total of 133.5.

In the opening round of the Big East tournament Wednesday, the Bearcats beat the Louisville Cardinals 69-66. Cincinnati covered as a 6-point underdog and the score went under the total of 137.5. Cincinnati was led by Yancey Gates’ 16 points.

West Virginia beat the Villanova Wildcats 68-66 in their final regular season game on Saturday. Da’Sean Butler scored the winning bucket with six seconds left in overtime. The Mountaineers covered as a 3-point road underdog and the under the 152.5-point total.

Cincinnati is 18-14 straight up and 8-19 against the point spread, and has won two straight games. West Virginia is 24-6 straight up and 13-16 against the point spread and has won three in a row.
