Final Four: Butler vs. Michigan State

By Hank Harris • Apr 1st, 2010 • Category: NCAAB

This Saturday get ready to witness one of the most incredible match-ups of the NCAA Tournament’s Final Four when the Michigan State Spartans clash against the Butler Bulldogs at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis (6:05 pm ET, CBS).

NCAA Basketball Betting Odds have the Spartans as 1.5-point favorites and the over/under total at 126.

Over the past few years, Butler has been in the Top 25 almost every week. They made it into top 10 in the preseason AP Top 25. With 24 straight wins, they are arguably the hottest team left in the tournament, and are brimming with confidence and raring to go.

Although they had quite a scare in the early rounds of the NCAA Tournament against the Murray State Racers, just managing to survive and get into the Sweet 16. Gordon Hayward and Shelvin Mack led the way for the Bulldogs with 22 points, nine rebounds and 16 points, seven rebounds respectively which resulted in a 54-52 win over the Racers.

The Spartans have battled it out to reach to the Final Four in back-to-back seasons which makes this trip the sixth one overall for MSU.

Tom Izzo’s watchful eyes have made the season’s success a reality. In the absence of Kalin Lucas, Durrell Summers has risen to the occasion. Raymar Morgan is also capable enough to put up the numbers.

For Butler, it’s Gordon Hayward and Shelvin Mack who might be the players to watch out for.

The Spartans are 5-2 SU & 4-3 ATS in their seven neutral court battles, while the Bulldogs are 5-3 SU & 4-4 ATS in their eight. It seems Butler has an edge but the game will be a exhilarating one and great if it goes down to the last possession.
