Greg Paulus Leads Syracuse Orange in CFB Betting Affair vs. Joe Paterno & Penn State Nittany Lions

Syracuse Orange

(+28.5)

Penn State Nittany Lions
(1-0/0-1 ATS)
(-28.5)

Week 2 of the CFB betting season kicks off early at JustBet Sportsbook with a non-conference clash between the Syracuse Orange and Penn State Nittany Lions JoPa’s 7th ranked squad currently sits as lofty 28.5-point home favorites while the game ‘total’ has been set at 50.5.

Syracuse came oh so close to getting its 2009 season off to a roaring start, but in the end, fell to Minnesota in overtime. They did however grab their first cover under new HC Doug Marrone, and QB Greg Paulus was adequate completing 19 of 31 passes for 167 yards with a score, but tossed the death blow in OT that allowed Minnesota to escape with the SU win. If the Orange is to have any shot in this game, the rush “D” is going to have to step it up.

Penn State roared to a commanding 31-0 lead at the break against Akron last week. Their CFB betting backers looked golden up until that point, but the Nittany Lions came out very disinterested in the second half and failed to put a single point on the board. Akron’s lone tally allowed it to cover the 29-point spread. Make no mistake; PSU dominated limiting the Zips to just 186 overall yards while racking up 515 yards of their own. QB Daryll Clark had a monster game throwing for 353 yards and 3 TDS while completing a shade under 73% of his passes. The offense was unstoppable as it converted 8 of 15 third down opportunities.

While Syracuse was able to hang with a mid tier Big 10 team last week, they stand no match against the Nittany Lions. Happy Valley will be too much for Paulus and company to contend with, and I foresee PSU sealing the deal this week. They trounced Cuse in the Carrier Dome by a 55-13 final count a year ago as 27.5-point road chalks. While Cuse looks to be a bit better than ‘08’s version, not much has changed. Eat the chalk and watch as the Nittany Lions throttle the Orange for the second year in a row.

Selection: Penn State (-28.5)
