College Football Bowl Games: Fiesta Bowl
By Hank Harris • Jan 4th, 2010 • Category: NCAAFBoise State Broncos vs. TCU Horned Frogs (Monday, 8:10 pm ET, FOX)
College Football Bowl Betting: Horned Frogs, -7.5. Over/Under: 53.5
We’ll go ahead and call this “the other game matching undefeateds”. Both Boise State and Texas Christian maneuvered through their respective schedules to undefeated seasons, and yet again, neither gets a shot at a National Title. Even less fair, neither team gets a chance to show their worth by beating a big-name school in a Bowl game, nope, they get to play each other. Crushing to the respectability of the “small schools” but great for the viewers, as these two teams are a couple of the game’s best.
Boise State is 13-0 on the season and 8-5 ATS. They average 44.2 points per game while giving up a paltry 17.7. They are 7-6 O/U on the season. Starting QB, Kellen Moore, threw 39 touchdowns to just 3 interceptions for one of the most explosive offenses in college football. The Broncos rank 8th and 13th offensively and defensively. Boise State has one huge win on the season, a dominating W of the Pac-10’s best team, Oregon. The Broncos are 25-1 over the last two seasons, their last loss coming to TCU, 17-16, in last year’s Bowl game. Boise State is 1-2 over their last 3 bowl games.
TCU is 12-0 on the year, 8-4 ATS. The Horned Frogs average 40.7 points per game while giving up just 12.4, teaming one of the highest scoring teams in the nation with one of the best defenses in the land. TCU is 6-4-2 O/U so far this season. Starting QB, Andy Dalton has thrown 22 TDs to just 5 Ints. TCU ranks 4th and 1st offensively and defensively. They destroyed BYU 38-7 and beat up on Utah 55-28, their two toughest opponents this season.
Fifty-one per cent of the public bet is on Boise State, but the line has moved in Boise’s favor at a handful of books, jumping up to 7.5 and 8 in a couple cases.
