NCAAF Preview: Pittsburgh vs. Utah, Sept. 2

By Chico Rodriguez • Aug 28th, 2010 • Category: NCAAF

The Pittsburgh Panthers and the University of Utah Utes will be facing off in their season opener on Sept. 2 (8:30 pm ET, VERSUS).

Both of these teams are solid teams and they should put together a great show. This will probably be the game of the day on Thursday, the opening day of the 2010 NCAA College Football season.

Utah is a 2.5-point favorite in NCAAF Lines at JustBet.

Pittsburgh is ranked as the 15th best team in the nation entering the season. Last season they managed to put together a record of 10-3 on the year. One question will be whether or not they are able to win games against good teams. It is clear that they win the games that they are supposed to, but they simply haven’t been tested against top notch teams. Last year they were 0-1 against teams in the top 25. This does not show much as to what they are made of.

The University of Utah seems to put together a team that makes their way into the top 25 every year. They play in a conference that some people see as an emerging conference featuring them, BYU (for now), TCU and soon Boise State. The Utes are always a solid contender for the Mountain West title and will be one of the favorites entering this season.

This matchup will be heavily dependent on the ability of the Utes to stop Lewis. Last season Lewis rushed for nearly 1800 yards and 17 touchdowns as a freshman. He was a key part of the offense and will be an important factor if the Panthers hope to take down the Utes.

Tune in on the 2nd to see how things shape up between these teams.
