College Football Betting: Maryland vs. Navy
By Chico Rodriguez • Sep 4th, 2010 • Category: NCAAFThe Maryland Terrapins will take on the Navy Midshipmen in their season opener on Monday, a game dubbed the “Crab Bowl” (4 pm ET, ESPN).
This game will feature two teams that are coming off of very different seasons. They will each enter this game with very different expectations.
College Football Betting at JustBet has Navy as a 6-point, -245 moneyline favorite and the total at 49.
The Terrapins were simply not a great team in 2009. They were playing in the ACC, which is a tough conference. Over the course of the season they managed to score just 21 points a game while surrendering 21 points. The team will really need to tighten up on defense in 2010 if they hope to turn things around. Last season they managed just 2 wins and 10 losses. A good game against Navy will start things off right in 2010.
Navy is coming off of a solid 10 win season. Navy is one of those teams that really packs a lot of games into their schedule and they played 14 games last year. This team even had some success against top 25 teams last year. They split their matchups against the two teams in the top 25 that they encountered.
Navy really has a shot at putting up a great record this year. Last year they were led by the phenomenal quarterback Ricky Dobbs. Dobbs is a double threat quarterback. He can run and pass the ball. He will be back to lead the team again in 2010 and he will have high expectations around him.
If Dobbs plays well the Terrapins should have no chance against Navy. Dobbs could even lead this team to a season with even more than 10 wins this year. Navy has no games scheduled against teams in the top 25.
