College Football: Connecticut Huckies @ Michigan Wolverines
By Chico Rodriguez • Sep 2nd, 2010 • Category: NCAAFThe UConn Huskies and the Michigan Wolverines open their 2010 College Football season schedules on national TV on Saturday (3:30 pm ET, ABC).
The Wolverines are a 2.5-point favorite and the over/under total is 54.5 in NCAAF Lines.
Michigan has traditionally been a solid football team out of the Big Ten. Many people see them as a team that can be a threat year in and year out. Unfortunately last season was simply not what the Wolverines had hoped for.
The Michigan Wolverines were absolutely dominated in the Big 10 last season. In their play against conference rivals they went 1-7 on the season. This is absolutely not going to get it done if they hope to make things different this season. Outside of their Big 10 foes, the Wolverines actually did not lose a single game on the season. This shows that the Wolverines were a solid team, but that they were simply not as good as those top end teams that make up the Big 10.
Defense will be the key for Michigan making a turnaround this season. They will need to do better than allowing 27.5 points per game if they hope to make a run towards the top 25 in 2010.
The Connecticut Huskies managed a pretty solid season in 2009. They had a record of 8-5 on the season. Unfortunately their conference play was not so hot. They lost 4 of their 5 losses against conference foes. They were really unable to play against high level teams as they went 0-3 against teams in the top 25.
This game will be a big one as both teams try to improve upon last season.
