NCAA Football: Miami of Ohio Redhawks @ Florida Gators

By Hank Harris • Sep 1st, 2010 • Category: NCAAF

The Miami of Ohio RedHawks will square off against the Florida Gators to start the 2010 NCAA Football season Saturday (12 pm ET, ESPN).

This has the makings of an absolute blowout and, accordingly, the Gators are a whopping, 35-point favorite and the over/under total is 52.5 in College Football Odds at JustBet.

The Florida Gators have been one of the top teams in the nation year in and year out for about two decades now. The Gators always seem to put a quarterback onto the field that can really get the job done. The most recent of these quarterbacks was Tim Tebow.

Tebow has become one of the most famous college football players in the history of the game. He showed the ability to pass and run in Florida and was the heart and soul of the Florida Gator team. The Gators will have high expectations for the new quarterback that replaces Tebow. The Gators will start the season with a ranking of 4th in the nation.

Miami of Ohio is in a difficult situation to start the season. Last year the team managed just one win on the whole season. They finished with a record of 1-11. Starting the season off against the Gators is not going to be a good way to turn things around. On an optimistic note, if the RedHawks can sneak away a win they will have a ton of momentum starting off the season.

All expectations point to Florida in what could be a classic 50 point blowout. Look for Florida to try to really get their offense running behind the new QB in this game. This game could be a good preparation for the 2010 season for the Gators.
