NFL Odds
NFL odds are easy to decipher even for the betting beginner.
If the Chicago Bears are three-point favorites over the New Orleans Saints, it will usually be represented as Chicago (-3) or New Orleans (+3).
The three points is also called the point spread or the betting line.
That means if you back Chicago and they win the game by more than three points, you are the winner. If Chicago loses the game or wins by less than three points, then you are the loser. If Chicago wins by exactly three points, then it is a push.
Money Line
If Chicago is -200 on the money line, then you need to wager $200 on them to win $100 and they just have to win the game disregarding the point spread.
Conversely, if New Orleans is +180, then a $100 wager on them brings back $180. The underdog Saints then have to win the game.
Over / Under
The Over / Under has to do with the total points scored in a game. If the Over / Under for the Chicago and New Orleans game is 46 points, then the Over will qualify if the total score is 47 points or higher. For example: Chicago 30, New Orleans 17.
The Under will qualify if the total score is 45 points or lower. For example: Chicago 28, New Orleans 17. If the total score is exactly 46 points, then it is a push.
