NFL: Jets, Eagles close out preseason
By Jack Williams • Aug 31st, 2010 • Category: NFLThe New York Jets and the Philadelphia Eagles play their final preseason game on Thursday at Lincoln Financial Field (7:30 pm ET, CBS).
The Eagles are a 1-point favorite and the over/under total is 34 in NFL Football Betting at JustBet.
After the Jets play their final tune-up game, they will have a week and a half to prepare for their regular-season opener – the first of a Monday Night Football season-opening doubleheader on Sept. 13, when they host the Baltimore Ravens (7:10 pm ET, ESPN).
And New York will enter the 2010 NFL season brimming with optimism after a great season in 2009, when the team finished second in the AFC East with a 9-7 SU and ATS record. As if that wasn’t impressive enough, the Jets went on a long playoff run, beating the Cincinnati Bengals 24–14 in the Wild Card round and the San Diego Chargers 17-14 in the divisional playoffs.
But the Cinderella season came to an end when the Jets lost 30-17 to Peyton Manning and the Indianapolis Colts in the AFC Conference championship.
Philadelphia finished 2nd in the NFC East with a solid 11-5 SU and 9-7 ATS record last season, but didn’t make as much noise in the NFL Playoffs as the Jets, losing 34-14 to NFC East rival Dallas Cowboys in the Wild Card round of the NFL Playoffs.
The Jets have struggled in recent meetings with the Eagles, going 0-3 SU and 1-2 ATS in the past three clashes. The teams last met on Oct. 14, 2007, when the Eagles won 16-9 and cashed as a 4.5-point road favorite.
