New York Jets at New England Patriots
By Chico Rodriguez • Jan 16th, 2011 • Category: NFLThe New York Jets and the New England Patriots will square off Sunday in the second round of the AFC playoffs. The Jets are coming off of an impressive victory where they seemed to get their game back on track. The Patriots earned a first round bye with their 14-2 record this season and will be playing in their first game of the playoffs.
The Patriots will be 9-point favorites in NFL Odds. The total for this game is currently sitting at 44.5.
These teams will be playing for the 3rd time this season. The Jets managed to pull off an impressive victory over the Patriots early in the season, winning 28-14 on their home field. The second game was not nearly as fruitful for the Jets. The Patriots really turned things up on in Foxboro and walked out with a victory, winning by more than 40 points.
The Jets hit a stretch in the second half of the season where their running game was not nearly as productive as it had been in the first half of the season. Last week their running game looked much better. This will be a big key against the Patriots. The Jets cannot count on Mark Sanchez to carry the team in this one.
The Patriots simply need to keep doing what they are doing. They are averaging more than 32 points per game this season and their defense seems to improve with each week. The Patriots will also be playing at home which is a huge advantage to them. Tom Brady has not lost a game at home in more than 20 games.
