The Bruins have had the upper hand in recent meetings, going 7-1-0-2 over the past 10 head-to-head.
This is the fifth meeting of the season between the Northeast division rivals. Despite Boston’s dominance over the past 10, Montreal is 3-1 in the season series so far. The Habs edged the Bruins 2-1 in the first meeting on Nov. 5 in Boston, and followed that up with a 5-1 win as +130 home underdogs on Dec. 4.
The Canadiens got past the Bruins 3-2 on Feb. 4 in Boston, and the Bruins picked up their first win of the season against the Canadiens in a 3-0 shutout in Montreal on Feb. 7.
This is the first game since Saturday, Feb. 13 for both teams.
The Canadiens started the Olympic break on a two-game losing streak, both to the Philadelphia Flyers. Montreal dropped a 6-2 decision to the Philadelphia Flyers in their last game at home, one night after losing 3-2 in Philadelphia.
But for Boston, the Olympic break couldn’t have come at a worst time, as the Bruins had won four in a row, including a 3-2 win over the Florida Panthers in Florida.
The Canadiens are 29-28-6 this season while the Bruins are 27-22-11.
On the injury front, Canadiens’ forward Mike Cammalleri (knee injury) is one of five players out indefinitely. Bruins’ defenseman Mark Stuart (broken finger) is one of two players out indefinitely.
