Blackhawks on verge of first Stanley Cup win since 1961

The Stanley Cup will be in the house when the Philadelphia Flyers host the Chicago Blackhawks for Game 6 of the Stanley Cup Finals on Wednesday (8:05 pm ET, NBC).

The Blackhawks will be trying to win their first NHL title since 1961, when they beat the Detroit Red Wings in six games to capture just the third Stanley Cup in franchise history, and the first since 1938.

The Flyers, on the other hand, will be hoping to push the series to Game 7, which would give them a shot at ending their own championship drought. Philadelphia’s last Stanley Cup victory was 1975, when the franchise beat the Buffalo Sabres in six games for its second-straight title.

Stanley Cup Odds at JustBet have the game as a pick’em and the over/under total at 5.5.

The Blackhawks lead the best-of-seven series 3-2.

In Game 5 on Sunday, Chicago beat the Flyers 7-4 at the United Center. The Blackhawks won as a -180 favorite and the score soared over the over/under total of 5.5.

Chicago was led by Dustin Byfuglien, who potted two goals and chipped in a pair of assists. Kris Versteeg was right behind Byfuglien with a goal and two assists.

Kimmo Timonen had a goal and an assist for Philadelphia and Ville Leino collected three assists.

There is a strong over trend as the total has gone over in four of the five games in this series, in five of Chicago’s last six, and in five of Philadelphia’s last six.

Game 7, if necessary, will be Friday in Chicago (8 pm ET, NBC).
